Privacy Policy

At Synerma, we take the protection of your personal data very seriously. This means that we handle your data—whether provided by you or collected during our interactions with you—confidentially, strictly adhering to legal data protection regulations. The following statement provides an overview of how this protection is ensured and what data is collected for what purpose.

Where personal data is collected on our website, this is done on a voluntary basis. As a rule, we neither share your data with third parties nor make it accessible to third parties. This personal data may come directly from you or from third parties we interact with. Whenever you provide us with data about other individuals, we assume that you are authorized to do so and that the data is accurate. It is your responsibility to ensure that these individuals are informed about our privacy practices.

Please note that data transmission over the Internet (e.g., communication via email) can have security vulnerabilities. It is impossible to guarantee complete protection of data from access by third parties.

Our website, services, and products are designed to handle your data with the utmost respect and care. If you contact us via the website, enter into a contract with us, or use our products and services, data may be collected and used as described in this privacy policy.

This privacy policy complies with the requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Swiss Data Protection Act (DSG). The exact applicability of these laws may vary depending on the situation.

Synerma GmbH in Zurich (“Synerma”) is responsible for the processing of data as described in this privacy policy, unless explicitly stated otherwise.

What Data Do We Use?

Communication Data:
When you contact us—whether via our contact form, email, phone, letter, or other means—we store the relevant data from this exchange, including your contact details. If we record telephone conversations or video conferences, we will inform you in advance. You can choose whether or not to allow these recordings. If you need identification from us, e.g., for media access, we collect the necessary data for this, such as a copy of your ID. Communication data is generally stored for 12 months, and emails or letters for up to 10 years.

Master Data:
his includes basic information such as name, contact details, role, bank details, date of birth, and customer history. We use this data if you are our customer, apply for a job, or for other business purposes, such as contracts. Master data can originate from you, your employer, or public sources such as the internet. Sometimes it includes health data. Master data is typically stored for between 1 and 10 years, but no longer than necessary. For purely marketing contacts, the retention period is usually no more than 2 years. The storage duration may be extended if legal or contractual requirements, or technical reasons, demand it.

Online Tracking and Optimized User Experience

On our website, we use specific methods to track your activities. This allows us, and some third-party providers we work with, to track your interactions across multiple visits. Here, we explain how and why.

The main goal of these techniques is to distinguish your visit from those of other users. This allows us to display the website correctly and provide personalized experiences. Our goal is not to identify you. Even without such data, you can be recognized during each visit by a unique feature, such as a "cookie."

What Are "Cookies"? Cookies are small text files stored by websites on a user's device to store and retrieve information about their activities and preferences. They are often used to optimize the user experience and ensure website functionality.

We use these methods and also allow selected third parties to do so. You have control and can configure your browser to block, modify, or delete cookies. There are also tools that prevent unwanted tracking. More information can be found in your browser's help section or on the websites of the third parties we use.

Necessary Cookies:
Some cookies are essential for the smooth operation of our website. For example, they allow you to navigate between pages without losing data. Temporary cookies ("session cookies") are deleted after your visit. If you block them, the website may not function properly. There are also longer-lasting cookies that store your preferences, such as language or consent, and are valid for up to 24 months.

Performance-Cookies:
To continuously improve our website, we use cookies that show us how you use the site. We also work with external analysis services for this. These performance cookies are also active for up to 24 months. Further details can be obtained directly from the respective third parties.

Hotjar:
To offer an exceptional user experience, we analyze how well our website is optimized and how well it resonates with visitors. Therefore, we review which content is clicked on and what interests website visitors the most. We use the analysis tool Hotjar for this purpose. It helps us better understand user behavior and preferences by recording clicks, mouse movements, and scrolling activities. These insights allow us to optimize the user experience and ensure that our content is presented effectively. Please note that while Hotjar captures these interactions, it does not collect personally identifiable information.

Digital Analysis and Marketing Tools

Google Analytics:
Our website uses the web analysis service Google Analytics, provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

This service allows us to analyze user behavior on our website, providing us with information such as page views, time spent on the site, and the origin of users. Google Analytics uses technologies, including cookies, to recognize users on repeated visits.

Your IP address is anonymized before being stored to protect your identity. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, compile reports on website activity for website operators, and provide other services related to website usage and internet usage. Google may also transfer this information to third parties if required by law or if third parties process the data on behalf of Google. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics is not merged with other Google data. You can prevent the installation of cookies by configuring your browser software accordingly; however, please note that in this case, you may not be able to fully use all the functions of this website.

There are also browser plugins available that prevent the collection and processing of your data by Google.

User and event data stored by Google that are linked to identifiers such as cookies or user IDs are anonymized or deleted after 14 months.

Google Ads:
Our website uses the online advertising program Google Ads, provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

Google Ads allows us to display our advertisements in Google search results and on selected third-party websites based on users' search queries. It also allows us to place ads based on user data such as location and interests. As operators, we can evaluate these advertising measures, for example, by tracking which search queries led to our ads and how often they were clicked.

Google Tag Manager:
The Google Tag Manager is a tool that allows marketers to embed tracking tools on their website without directly altering the site's code. This simplifies the implementation and management of multiple analytics tools simultaneously. We use this tool to integrate Google Analytics and Google Ads.

Please note that you have the option to opt out of data collection by these tools. Various browser extensions and settings are available for this purpose.

Linkedin Conversion Tracking:
Our website uses LinkedIn Conversion Tracking, operated by LinkedIn Ireland, Wilton Plaza, Wilton Place, Dublin 2, Ireland. LinkedIn is a web-based social network for maintaining existing business contacts and establishing new business connections.

This tool allows us to obtain detailed reports on the performance of our advertisements and information on how visitors interact with our website. This data is securely and encryptedly transmitted to LinkedIn and returned to us only in an aggregated form, so no conclusions about individual visitors are possible.
